Justice League vs. Titans-Another original story and the first of the DC Universe Original Movies to feature the Teen Titans.
So yeah, it’s not exactly the stuff of animated films, unless that animated film were targeted at a more mature audience.
Without revealing too much information for those of you unfamiliar with the story, many consider The Killing Joke to be the definitive Joker story, which also sets the foundation for the birth of Oracle. The story followed the Joker as he launched a brutal and relentless campaign to drive his greatest nemeses Batman and Gotham City Police Commissioner James Gordon.
Details are scant on the The Killing Joke adaptation, but it’s described on DC’s website as “retell[ing] this classic tale in an exciting new way”. The Killing Joke was long before Harley Quinn was created, but it probably wouldn’t be that hard to add her in.
No casting announcement was made, but Mark Hamill, who has voiced The Joker in animation and video games on-and-off since Batman: The Animated Series, has previously expressed interest in returning for a Killing Joke adaptation.
The new animated movie is an alternate history featuring Zod as Superman’s father, Batman as the vampiric Man-Bat and Wonder Woman as the daughter of the God of War Ares as they team up to either save the world or destroy it. Justice League: Gods and Monsters will be released on Blu-ray, DVD and digital download July 28.
