Prince Harry joins injured veterans’ trek in Shropshire
Prince Harry has joined fearless soldiers on their own personal roads to recovery, trekking the length of the UK.
Taking to the street for cause close to his heart, Prince Harry on Wednesday joined a group of wounded servicemen crossing the United Kingdom by foot to raise awareness about the problems facing disabled veterans.
As well as providing physical and psychological support for injured service personnel, the charity also offer assistance for homeless veterans and those who find themselves before the courts. The enormous walk takes 72 days to complete and passes through 150 villages, towns and cities, according to the official site.
Prince Harry, today joined injured veterans in south Shropshire for a section of their 1,000 mile journey that is the Walk of Britain.
He was also patron of the their Everest Expedition in 2012. The games launched in 2014 in the United Kingdom and Prince Harry will bring them to ESPN’s Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando, Florida, in 2016.
“This process can be challenging, as it is for anyone seeking a new career”, he said.
Announcing the trek earlier this year, Harry said: “People up and down the country will get to see first-hand the determination and resolve of those who have served, and in particular those who have been injured or suffer hidden wounds”.
There will be a dinner in the evening at The Shire Hall, which is being hosted by the Lord-Lieutenant of Herefordshire and the chairman of the Herefordshire Council, which six walking veterans will be attending and at which they will describe a few of their circumstances. “In doing so, Walk of Britain will give everyone the opportunity to meet these remarkable men and women”.
This is not Prince Harry’s first Walking with the Wounded voyage.
Harry has supported WWTW since the charity was formed, taking part in its treks to the North Pole in 2011 and South Pole in 2013.
The service members began the walk on August. 22 in Scotland and are expected to finish at Buckingham Palace on November 1.
