One Direction Kick Off Apple Music Festival 2015 In London

“Steal My Girl” starts the machine whirring, each member assuming their customary roles, but allowing themselves just enough room for personality to show. The star chose to throw a track by a British artist into her set list, which gave us this stunning cover of Coldplay’s ‘Fix You’. Hair is of course taken from Little Mix’s forthcoming third studio album, Get Weird, but was not officially released as a single.

One Direction fans turned up 24 hours before the show to set up camp in a bid to get last-minute tickets.

“Thanks everyone for all your support over the years”. And the band on stage are experts at their craft, vocal deliveries on point, even if much of their work is personality based.

The band played at The Roundhouse venue in London for the first time and treated the audience to a set packed with their greatest hits from over the past three decades. Harry Styles in particular is living by his own rules, spending most of the first few songs thrusting the microphone to the crowd either by hand or between his legs.

“I think they are good as a foursome, they are better as a four – I saw them as five”, she added, referring to the departure of Zayn Malik earlier this year.

Niall Horan tweeted his excitement about the gig, writing: ” really can’t wait for the apple music festival tomorrow at the roundhouse. But considering that the Bradford Bad Boy left both of them, maybe we shouldn’t have been too surprised. “Love you all”.

Fashion designer Stella McCartney and Jesy Nelson’s fiance Jake Roche of boy band Rixton were among celebrities attending the gig.

Following his appearance at the Apple festival – the rebrand of the iTunes Festival – The Weeknd will play a series of concerts in the USA before officially starting his North American tour, The Madness, in November.
