Hokies to lose projected 1st round CB Kendall Fuller to knee surgery
Now more than ever, the Hokies must wreak havoc at the line of scrimmage to remain competitive in the Coastal Division and get off the deck after last week’s ugly loss to East Carolina.
“He’s got to have a few kind of procedure done”, Gray said. Hokies secondary coach Torrian Gray recently updated Fuller’s condition, according to information relayed by Rob Rang of CBS/The Sports Xchange.
His three older brothers – Vincent, Corey and Kyle – all played at Virginia Tech and moved on to National Football League careers.
Virginia Tech cornerback Kendall Fuller, a preseason All-American and projected first-round pick in next spring’s NFL Draft, is out for the season after undergoing knee surgery.
Fuller initially tore the meniscus in his knee during preseason training camp and tried to play through it. He missed Saturday’s game at ECU and was re-evaluated Monday. “It just didn’t progress enough for him to play last week”.
“Kendall was very determined to compete as long as he could with this injury”, head coach Frank Beamer said.
Terrell Edmunds, a Dan River grad, is expected to start Saturday against Pittsburgh. Of course, Foster made that statement before details on Fuller’s injury were released. However, apparently it is meniscus fix surgery, which puts players out for three to six months. The Panthers have one of the best wide receivers in the country in Tyler Boyd, as well as a strong running game.
