Mumbai cops assault woman for entering Lalbaughcha Raja pandal throught VIP gate
Nandini Goswami (20) was assaulted by the cops as she tried to enter the iconic pandal through the VIP gate. “The cops had hurled abuses on me and my relatives, which led to an argument with them”, Goswami said. When asked Bharti about the third constable, he replied, “Of what we have found in the video, it seems like the third constable is trying to stop the other two from hitting the woman”. According to Goswanmi, she was taken to a police station after the incident where she was again beaten up by the same cops.
According to DCP (Detection-I) Mohan Dahikar, the matter is being probed by Zonal DCP Ashok Dudhe.
Dhudhe’s report was prepared after studying in detail the CCTV footage. The guilty won’t be spared. “We have called for a report from the police within 48 hours. We have also found an independent witness who saw the constables assaulting the victim”.
The police said they have received an email from a person claiming to have witnessed the entire incident.
Goswami slammed police claims that the video clip of her being assaulted by two constables at the famous Ganesh pandal is an old video and also dismissed talk about her being mentally depressed or disturbed. Later the police also slapped a case on her under The Bombay Police Act. A police officer said, “The footages which have gone viral show only one side of the story – what happened inside the gate”.
While the girl, may have been arrogant one, is not here to take sides, her parents were jeered at by pandal volunteers.
“The women constables maintain that they did not start the fight and it was the victim who provoked them by abusing and kicking their senior”. The constables should have detained her and brought her to the station for questioning.
Lalbaugcha Raja Ganesh pandal in central Mumbai attracts lakhs of people during the 10-day Ganesh festival, which ended on Sunday. They (police constables) tore the clothes of my daughter (Nandini’s mother) and did not even allow her to pick up her dupatta…
We should avoid to go to such paces where discrimination is done for VIPs.
GOD is not there.
It’s BUSINESS…. BIG BUSINESSES .
