Boom Williams dealing with personal issue
Kentucky junior running back Stanley “Boom” Williams’ status is up in the air, as he has failed to practice so far this week due to what coach Mark Stoops called a personal issue.
“We’re going to keep that between Boom and I”, Stoops said Tuesday. However, a United Kingdom spokesman told Jen Smith of the LHL that Williams was still with the team.
Sophomore Stanley “Boom” Williams didn’t practice Tuesday and is dealing with outside issues. Stoops also said Williams needed to deal with a few personal stuff and would be back with the team once he got through them.
Williams had seven rushes for 21 yards against Missouri and four catches for seven yards. His only second half carry was a 1-yard gain and on the next play quarterback Patrick Towles was sacked for a 9-yard loss.
Instead, simply reiterated, Boom is dealing with a personal matter and may not play Saturday against Eastern Kentucky.
Stoops declined to elaborate on why Williams was not on the field for the fourth quarter against Missouri. He has been UK’s main running back and opened the season with a 75-yard touchdown run.
On Tuesday, rumors began circulating that Williams, now a true sophomore, was having issues with his demotion and was even considering skipping practice and quitting the team. “We take all of that into consideration, but we need all of our players to compete at a high level all the time to help us win games”.
“I think that’s another great improvement by this team”. “The considering you can find here is how most people gaming went”, Stoops said. I think that what the outside world would perceive as a distraction, I think in here things move on.
Kentucky Football fans deserve a chance to enjoy the moment and now this distraction is killing their buzz.
