Woman’s Body Discovered On Ocean City Beach
A total of six people were rescued from rough Ocean City waters yesterday. Waters says three adults attempted to enter the water to rescue two children who had been in distress.
Beach Patrol for Ocean City is off duty until May of next year.
New Jersey State Police and the Ocean City Police responded to the beach at 57th Street for the recovered body of an unidentified, white female, according to New Jersey State Police’s Facebook page. The adults also became caught up in the rip current. Ocean circumstances have been deemed extraordinarily unsafe with heavy surf and rip currents because the remnants of the nor’easter that hammered the shoreline all weekend nonetheless lingered. Five of the victims, including the two children, were transported to Atlantic General Hospital via Ocean City EMS. They say there were no signs of trauma. Waters urges beachgoers to stay out of the water in the off-season when lifeguards are not present, saying it is not worth risking your life to swim unsupervised in the ocean.
