Andrew Luck ‘doing very little’ during practice prompts injury questions
Coach Chuck Pagano said after practice that Luck was limited in practice with a right shoulder injury (his throwing arm).
Luck took part in warmups, but only handed the ball off to running backs during individual drills. Speculation swirled after Sunday’s come-from-behind victory in Tennessee that the Colts’ franchise quarterback was playing hurt. Pagano wouldn’t specify which play it was but instead pointed to the large quantity of hits that the quarterback has taken already this year.
It goes without saying just how important Luck is to the Colts’ fortunes in 2015.
“Football is a physical game, right, we all know that”, he said Monday. It’s safe to say Moncrief has become a favorite of Luck’s this year with his 26 targets.
Pagano said that injury definitely occurred during the game against Tennessee and he wasn’t dealing with it previously. “For me, it’s sort of business as usual – get over those bumps and bruises, those sort of nicks and get out there and play”.
Luck last appeared on the injury report in 2012 with a knee injury.
Luck added that it’s “not a big deal”, per Andress, noting that it happened during the Titans game.
Luck has taken a beating this season. At $4,700 he is a steal for a player who can put up two or three touchdowns when the offensive line isn’t getting flagged for holding, yet it’s hard to trust the line or Pep Hamilton’s play calling after just one game. They allowed 150 quarterback hurries, tied for the fifth-most in the league. Remember the last time Indianapolis lost its starting quarterback for a long stretch of games? The Fan’s Matt Taylor asked Luck following Sunday’s game. “If you’re not giving it your all, then I think you’re wrong”.
