The versatile defensive midfielder was over the moon with helping his side to a 4-1 victory yesterday.

Tottenham Hotspur blasted past (then) top of the table Manchester City 4-1 in Barclay’s Premier League action at White Hart Lane on Saturday.

Kevin de Bruyne put Manchester City ahead after a good start to the game but Spurs reacted to secure the three points, thanks to goals from Eric Dier, Toby Alderweireld, Kane and Lamela.

Collymore says the result should not come as a surprise given last week’s display and singled out Lamela as representative for Spurs’ significant improvement.

“I’m absolutely trusting that we are going to do it because we did it the last two seasons after losing the first game”.

Vincent Kompany, Joe Hart and Yaya Toure are doubts to face Borussia Monchengladbach, giving Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini a Champions League injury headache.

Lamela completed the scoring late on.

Eleven minutes later Kane broke his season-long goal starvation for his club when he coolly clipped in a rebound after Christian Eriksen’s free kick struck the crossbar. The league is always very hard.
