Monkey captured after vandalizing neighborhood
Yesterday morning, the Sanford Police Department in Florida received a call that was ridiculous even by that state’s usual ridiculous standards.
Sanford police were called to investigate a report of a monkey eating mail from a mailbox in the Hidden Lakes Subdivision around 8 a.m.
“There’s a monkey on my auto”, Ramirez exclaimed.
The mad monkey gave police the runaround for 20 minutes before Zeek’s owner managed to get him under control.
The name of this monkey is Zeek.
Zeek’s owner, Jeff Jacques, has a permit and a license allowing him to own the monkey in Sanford, according to the station WFTV. When they found the monkey (who was later identified as an escaped house pet named Zeek) he happened to be climbing up a street sign.
Police say after they responded to the scene, the monkey started pulling the molding off one of their patrol cars.
A female lieutenant and self-proclaimed animal lover took a photo with the monkey after he was caught.
“Zeek had a little fun with our patrol auto”, the officers posted about one video. Many social media users responded to the police department’s post, cracking jokes about the monkey.
But rather than being annoyed at receiving the weird 911 call, authorities said it came as a welcome relief.
