Donald Trump Fights Forbes Over His Net Worth
Trump, who has repeatedly made his vast monetary success a major selling point of his 2016 presidential run, filed campaign documents that his net worth is more than $10 billion.
“I read this morning that you’re a $4.5 billion man”, host John Harwood began (Trump maintains his net worth is $10 billion).
Moreover, Trump noted that the media coverage he’s received so far has allowed him to lead the polls while avoiding heavy advertising spending and conserving cash.
Trump claimed Forbes is going to look bad as a result of its supposedly faulty estimate, describing the publication as a bankrupt magazine that doesn’t know what they’re talking about.
It’s not the first time the Republican presidential candidate has feuded with Forbes over his net worth.
“Well, number one, I’m a private company”.
“I’m sure they said I’m very liquid”, Trump said. The Forbes estimate: United States dollars 327 million. “Does Trump command an impressive pile of assets? Yes. That’s a different question”.
“That leaves Trump bleeding at the rate of at least $40 million a year, $3 million a month, $770,000 a week”, Forbes said.
His own estimate, the article reported, was Dollars 793 million in cash and cash equivalents. But Trump wasn’t pleased with the financial magazine’s assessment of his wealth.
In a separate interview with Fox News, Trump claimed he does not need to change his volatile, abrasive tactics and be “kinder and more mature”.
When Forbes’ list of the richest Americans was released this week and Donald Trump was not in the top 100, the real estate mogul appeared on CNBC to say the business magazine was wrong.
For example, he said, “they don’t give you any value for brand, and my brand is very valuable”.
A call to a Trump spokesman late Tuesday wasn’t immediately returned.
