Great British Bake Off 2015: Judge Paul leaves Nadiya ‘shaking’ after praising
Her chocolate souffle was deemed by judge Mary Berry to have a “lovely texture and flavour”.
While she received the honour of a handshake from baking maestro Paul Hollywood for her peanut dusted chocolate tart, it wasn’t long before she was reduced to tears in the soufflé technical challenge which was a recipe for disaster, literally.
Last but not least, it’s showstopper time and the bakers must create a stunning centrepiece made of, guess what? “I should probably be just concentrating on a tart and that’s it, and not venturing into other minefields – but I always do”.
“I am gutted of course I am”, she admitted.
“There was always lots of sprinkles and icing sugar. She and my grandmother have been a great inspiration”.
However, in the end, Flora’s chocolate treat wowed the room with it’s strong structure and attractive bake, earning her first place. “That was quite a good comment to get from him”.
Cracking under the pressure, Flora seemed to lose her nerve and finished the dessert with the “messiest piping I’ve ever done in my life”.
Contemplating the drama of the semi-final an emotional Ian said: “I felt like I got through by the skin of my teeth today I thought that was it. Im going home”.
The series started with 12 amateur bakers hoping to be crowned this year’s champion.
