Police investigate after woman’s body found in waters off Ocean City beach
Officials said the kids were swimming and were in distress so the adults went in and became distressed, too.
Spokesperson Jessica Waters says two youngsters have been in misery, and three adults tried to enter the water to rescue them, when additionally they turned caught within the rip present.
A woman whose body was found in the surf off the beach near 57th Street has been identified one day after authorities issued a public appeal for information about her, the State Police said. Four men took to the water to try to intervene, but also found themselves in distress.
First responders arrived within minutes of the call, bringing back all six swimmers. Five of the victims, including the two children, were transported to Atlantic General Hospital via Ocean City EMS. “The ocean is unpredictable and the current conditions are risky for even the strongest swimmers”.
The Ocean City Beach Patrol has roving patrols, who responded to the rescue. Waters says people should stay out of the water when it is unsupervised.
