LG’s new Watch Urbane is Android Wear’s first LTE-equipped smartwatch

Up until now that’s a feature that hasn’t been available for watches running Google’s Android Wear software.

LG announced its Android Wear-powered LG Watch Urbane last February, and the device was introduced to the United States market later, at the end of April. At the very least, you’ll be able to take and make calls or send messages without your smartphone.

Alongside the premium V10 phablet, LG announced a successor to the Watch Urbane smartwatch.

The LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition will come in four straps: black, white, blue and brown.

The watch features a 1.38 inch, 480 x 480 pixel round plastic OLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processors, 768MB of RAM, 4GB of eMMC storage, and a 570 mAh battery. Given the $350 starting price of the regular Watch Urbane and the 2nd Edition’s beefier specs, don’t be surprised if the Watch Urbane 2nd Edition carries a premium price tag. Cellular enabled features will vary across Android and iOS. The bands are made of durable hypoallergenic TPSiV elastomer while the first Urbane got a leather band. You’ll also find the usual heart-rate sensor, barometer, pedometer, gyroscope and compass. There are also three buttons on the device that can easily access contacts or LG Health, and a user can tap the crown to turn ambient mode on and off.
