Kiko Alonso: (Knee) Expected to play again this season
The Eagles got a few good news Wednesday. However, it was later reported that Alonso suffered a partial-but not full-ACL tear and traveled to Florida to get a second opinion for Dr. James Andrews early this week.
“So you have to figure out where to get that extra spot”, Kelly said.
In Alonso’s absence, the Eagles have gotten terrific play from rookie inside linebacker Jordan Hicks.
Eagles fans have been holding their breath for Kiko Alonso, who injured his left knee 10 days ago against the Dallas Cowboys.
“We’ll see. We’d like to have nine [offensive lineman], that’s the ideal number for us”, Kelly said.
Philadelphia Eagles LB Kiki Alonso had arthroscopic knee surgery this week and is expected to play again this season, according to a report from ESPN. When asked yesterday if the Eagles were comfortable taking time bringing back injured starters when their backups are playing well, Bill Davis said it wouldn’t affect their timetables for return, but could affect their playing time.
Alonso totaled seven tackles and one interception in just a little over one game this season. Rest and rehabilitation will be all that is required, and Alonso should be able to return to the field in a month or so. In the last two seasons, the Eagles have mostly stuck to Ryans and Kendricks as the inside linebackers.
Meanwhile, Kendricks was back on the practice field Wednesday after missing the Jets game with a hamstring injury.
