Tinder’s new feature triples your chances of getting a match
Last month, the dating app announced a brand-new feature called the “Super Like”. If you stumble across a Tinder profile that deserves more than a right swipe, you can now give them a Super Like. A representative would not say if that was a motivation for the new “super like” feature, but noted it was created “to provide additional functionality that our users have been asking for”.
But be sparing – you only get one Super Like a day, or five if you’re a Tinder Plus customer. You can get more, but you’d have to pay the membership fee then, and as it turns out, true love just isn’t worth the money.
“Every time we bring two people together who otherwise wouldn’t have met, we’re enabling endless possibilities: a great date, maybe a few good months together, maybe a lifetime, and sometimes just a wasted half hour at a bar”, Sean Rad, CEO of Tinder, said. “We’ve already forged connections like this on an unprecedented global scale”.
The company originally launched Super Like as a beta in Australia back in early September, and has since seen those users have 3x the likelihood of finding a match through use of the Super Like. The feature has proved especially popular with women, Tinder said, contributing to a substantial rise in female subscribers in Australia.
However, the move also forms part of the dating app’s longer plans to monetize its users.
Launched in March for “power users”, Tinder Plus accounts in the USA are $10 for people under 30 and $20 for all the lonely senior citizens over 30.
Tinder has made small alterations over the years.
