Cowboys add defensive end Irving from Chiefs’ practice squad
The Dallas Cowboys did a few shuffling along the defensive line this week, signing David Irving off the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad on Tuesday, a day after they released defensive tackle Davon Coleman.
The Cowboys must have Irving on their 53-man roster for three weeks, which shouldn’t be an issue.
Carr and defensive end Randy Gregory were the only two defensive players not practicing Wednesday for the Cowboys.
Hardy is serving a four-game suspension for violating the National Football League’s (NFL) personal conduct policy, while Gregory is out with a high ankle sprain.
Signed as an undrafted free agent in 2014, injuries forced him into a starting role in the 2014 season opener but he soon found himself on the inactives list.
Dallas was missing defensive end Jeremy Mincey because of a concussion last weekend against Atlanta, but Mincey is expected to return against New Orleans on Sunday.
Despite all the issues, the 22-year-old impressed the Cowboys in his preseason stint with the Chiefs. In 32 games with the Cyclonse, he had 44 tackles, three sacks and returned an interception for a touchdown.
