Running back Rawls ready to shine for the Seahawks
The Seahawks finally got their first win thanks to a dominating performance against the undermanned Chicago Bears on Sunday in a 26-0 shutout, but there are worries about Lynch and his growing list of injuries. He left the locker room with just over 8 minutes remaining in the first quarter wearing a cape with a hood up over his helmet and full pads, like a few kind of blue superhero.
“He had a few cutbacks and honestly what makes him special is that he works at it every day so you’re not surprised that he just made a few plays because he’s phenomenal in practice”. He ran four more times for a total of 6 yards the rest of the first half. The one pass for a fourth-down catch of nine yards in the second quarter was the play he strained his hamstring that ended his day. Lynch underwent an MRI on Monday and is scheduled to be reevaluated later in the week.
He did not play at all in the second half, when Seattle turned a 6-0 lead into a rout.
Rawls, an undrafted rookie free agent, carried the ball 18 times for 109 yards against the Bears.
Jackson’s fantasy value for Week 4 against the Lions will greatly hinge on the availability of Marshawn Lynch (hamstring). September. The five-time Pro Bowl runner has missed just one game in six seasons with Seattle, in October 2011 at Cleveland because of back spasms. Seahawks coach Carroll said that’s because of Fred Jackson’s skill as a pass blocker and receiver and the squad’s plan to use him on third downs. “That helps a little bit”.
All eyes are on Marshawn Lynch heading into Week 4. “Very hard to see myself play like that and hurt this team the way I did”, Kaepernick said after the game. “I don’t know that we knew it all”.
DT Brandon Mebane (groin) will be assessed later in the week when the team returns to practice on Thursday.
Rawls was a guy personally I was really fired up about, he was “my guy”, liked his (running) style. So that’s three injuries in eight days for him. If you already have Lynch on your roster, on the other hand, Rawls could be a good handcuff to provide cover at running back, which is the extent to his ceiling at the moment. He missed the entire preseason and the opener with a hamstring injury. “The MRI will be important though when we get the results back”. Through the line of scrimmage he has a great wiggle and all that but the way he did it is what we saw him do in college.
The National Football League vice president of officiating says that referee Ed Hochuli insists he never told Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton that he “wasn’t old enough” to get a personal foul call during Sunday’s 27-22 win over New Orleans. “We’ll have to wait and see”.
