Tokyo Motor Show: Suzuki to unveil the Ignis compact crossover
It will be on display starting October at the Tokyo Motor Show where it will be exhibited alongside the MIGHTY DECK concept and the new Ignis.
Unfortunately we don’t have more on the brand new Suzuki IGNIS-Trail Concept at this point so we will have to wait for it to be shown at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show in order to find out its other tweaks.
According to the company officials, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, is expected to be catering to all those potential Maruti Suzuki customers who are looking for a vehicle which would offer a compact crossover space. Its inspiration draws from beach cars and the classic Japanese kei cars, making a very awesome lifestyle automobile in the process. The production worthy design stays true to the iM-4 concept with not too many visual differences. At the back, the big square-ish tail lamp clusters are reminiscent of a few of the older BMW SUVs and, in my opinion, is the Ignis’ least flattering viewing angle. On the centre dash, is a large touchscreen powered by Suzuki’s SmartPlay infotainment system. The Baleno is an all-new B-segment hatchback from Suzuki with powertrain technologies including the newly developed 1.0-litre direct-injection, turbocharged Boosterjet engine and the 1.2-litre Dualjet engine. Offering a standard front-wheel drive layout, Suzuki will also provide an optional 4WD system on the Ignis.
For India, Suzuki already has plans to bring in a compact SUV and that they have code named YBA. Expect to see it on road sometime over the next year given that it was first showcased back in 2012 at the Indian Auto Expo.
