Lord & Miller to helm Han Solo movie!
THR first reported that “The LEGO Movie” helmers Christopher Miller and Phil Lord will be directing the upcoming installment before it was made official on the Star Wars page.
Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew), left and Han Solo (Harrison Ford), right in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens“. Up until now, many had assumed that the Fett/Solo Anthology film would open the year after Episode VIII, given the fact that Disney has slated the project for a release on May 25, 2018.
In a joint statement, Miller and Lord said, “This is the first film we’ve worked on that seems like a good idea to begin with”.
They also said that working on the project was like “a dream come true”. Han Solo is the intergallactic smuggler who becomes involved with the Rebellion when he meets Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Obi Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness).
Well, Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul was once linked to playing a young Han Solo in a Star Wars spin-off, but there is no indication that he is involved with this particular film.
The senior Kasdan co-wrote The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, the latter with director JJ Abrams.
“The screenplay is written by Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan”.
Meanwhile, another Star Wars news has been revealed indicating that one of the hero characters in the franchise will be getting his own standalone film.
However, the most exciting casting news is probably the return of Harrison Ford and Carrie Fischer as the galaxy’s most legendary couple, Princess Leia and Han Solo. Walt Disney Co. made the “Star Wars” spin-off announcement a few days before the San Diego Comic Con. On the other hand, “Episode VII: The Force Awakens” will premiere this December 2015.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Everyone is very excited about the new Han Solo spin-off and film bosses are looking very carefully at Nicholas and Taron, they are top of their list”.
