David Beckham catches ball at Wimbledon 2015
Andy Murray is certain he can get over his Wimbledon semifinal disappointment, telling his fans he “will be back” in contention next year.
Jamie, 29, and his doubles partner John Peers from Australia go head to head with Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau on Centre Court for the men’s doubles crown. “I don’t mind some attention”.
“We need to look after on our own game but be aware of what they are trying to do to stop you performing”. Steffi Graf was the last player to win all four major titles in the same year, in 1988. “We want to play in a men’s doubles grand slam final”.
However, able to reflect on a successful campaign at SW19, he said: “It’s been unbelievable for us, if you asked me what my expectations were at the beginning, I don’t think I would have said semi-finals”. I accept that but we’re doing a lot of great things ourselves.
The chair umpire for the women’s final at Wimbledon will be Alison Hughes. “Happy anniversary, I love u so much x”, she captioned the touching image.
“It was a great result for us”, Murray said.
“I thought at one point he was going to get bored and walk out”.
Murray was broken for 3-4 after a stunning lob from Petzschner and Erlich later comfortably put away the volley to wrap up the first set in just 30 minutes.
There could be a memorable family double at the weekend if Murray beats Roger Federer in the singles on Friday to reach Sunday’s showpiece final, where Novak Djokovic or Richard Gasquet will be waiting.
“This is our third year together, quite a long time in doubles”.
“Most guys seem to fall out with each other and quit on it or try for something better”.
Rather than push on with questions about the British number one’s performance levels in a 6-4 7-5 6-4 win over Canada’s Vasek Pospisil on Centre Court, the inquisitive Richardson wanted to know what Murray felt about playing in front of Prince William, his wife the Duchess of Cambridge and ex- England football captain David Beckham.
