Zangief Confirmed for Street Fighter V, See Him in Action
20 best Street Fighter characters ever, ranked: Who rules Capcom‘s iconic brawler?
We’re nearing the finish line, folks. Zangief has made appearances in Street Fighter II, Street Fighter Alpha II and III, and Street Fighter IV, all the while fighting for “Mother Russian Federation”. Go and do your country proud.
You can also see screenshots of Zangief in action in the gallery at the bottom of the page. Set to arrive on PC and PlayStation 4 as a console exclusive next year, the game looks to bring the all too familiar fight formula to fans with a slew of new and returning faces.
Zangief will stay true to his character and still be a grappler – the Russian-behemoth’s gameplay is still focused on trying to close the ground in order to grab other characters. If the player chooses to do so, and with the right combination of inputs, Zangief closes in on his enemy and packs his own blow as well. Holding down MP and MK then pressing a direction, players can make Zangief slowly approach his opponent.
With Zangief now being confirmed in the game that leaves one more classic character and two all new-characters still to be revealed. With Cyclone Lariat, he “spins with high speed and velocity, pulling the opponent in close”. If done correctly the player taps V-Trigger activation and quickly pulls in the enemy fighter. If the buttons are held, however, he will continue to spin for a multi-hitting attack.
With this reveal, Capcom has shown 13 of the 16 characters that will appear in Street Fighter V at launch.
