‘Humble Monthly Bundle’ launches
The Humble Bundle service has clued into this as well, and is now prepared to offer a monthly subscription service called Humble Monthly. Humble won’t share which games are included ahead of time, and you’ll only be able to get the bundle if you’re subscribed before its contents are revealed-once they are known, it’ll be too late to get it. Games are always playable through Steam for Windows, and potentially other platforms in a few cases.
The most interesting thing about Humble Bundle’s monthly subscription is the subtle changes to the company’s revenue stream.
Bowling added that Humble Bundle has already planned out the first six months of this promotion, noting that “We spent a lot of time with developers and publishers to walk through the value of having a large group of people dive into your game every month at the same time”. Launched one year ago, the second installment in this dungeon crawling series has a current online price of via Steam, which means at the very least you’re getting one good game at half price. It will be curated from the Humble folks’ favorite games. Five percent of the subscription fee will go to charity, with the rest distributed under Humble’s purview. The first batch of games won’t arrive until the first Friday of each month, starting on November 6. Joining now gets you the contents of the bundle alongside a copy of Legend of Grimrock 2. But, in doing so, it does all the legwork for you and you may end up with games that have no appeal to you. This service doesn’t seem to be replacing the regular Humble Bundles, so expect new ones of those every week as usual. There’s also the Humble Store, which sells computer games like other digital storefronts.
