Prime Minister Narendra Modi Holds Talks With President Barack Obama
In the video of his remarks posted on the White House web site, Obama can be heard saying, “We are encouraged by the aggressive nature of President Modi’s commitment to clean energy”.
Within a matter of few hours, Modi met US President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron and the French President Francois Hollande, which External Affairs Ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup described as “power Monday”.
“I think that this isn’t brain drain but it is brain deposit”.
He also praised the Sikh community residing in the country.
Prime Minister Modi addressed the Indian diaspora at a reception in San Jose’s SAP Centre and said there has been a change in the mindset about India of the people across the world. “We have both set ambitious national agendas”.
“We are committed to providing local innovative start-ups with the support needed to help India’s IOE (Internet of Everything) ecosystem grow, increasing consumer choice and availability”, Qualcomm executive chairman Paul E Jacobs said.
Likewise, at a dinner in Modi’s honour, the Indian-American CEO of Microsoft, Satya Nadella, announced that his company will bring cheap broadband to half a million Indian villages. “But India is Bahuratna Vasundhara, there are many brains in the country”, he added.
Pushing for long-awaited reforms of the UN Security Council, Modi stressed that the success of United Nations peacekeeping “ultimately depends not on the weapons that the soldiers carry, but on the moral force that decisions of the UN Security Council command”.
In his final engagements, Modi held bilateral talks with President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine, and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto.
