Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl is now official
The Arizona Bowl will match teams from the Mountain West, Conference United States of America and/or the Sun Belt Conference.
A new bowl game is coming to Arizona Stadium this December. The game did not have a title sponsor or a home.
The bowl game comes with a digital partnership from Campus Insiders, becoming the first bowl game to have a digitally-focused broadcast strategy, according to the press release. Conference U.S. is scheduled to be a part of the inaugural game. Overall, Conference U.S. leads the Mountain West in the series 8-7 and has won four of the last five meetings.
Those games are: The Las Vegas Bowl, the Hawaii Bowl (Honolulu), the Poinsettia Bowl (San Diego), the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl (Boise), the New Mexico Bowl (Albuquerque), the Armed Forces Bowl (Fort Worth) and the Arizona Bowl. Tucson was the site of the Copper Bowl from 1989-1996, and the Insight.com Bowl from 1997-99.
There are now 41 bowl games which is two more than past year and that number means that almost two-thirds of all FBS teams will have a path to go bowling. The ASEC announced the economic impact of the bowl game will reach approximately $25 million in effort to establish tourism and part-time jobs. The league also has a secondary agreement with the Independence Bowl.
