Chick-fil-A set to launch its largest restaurant in NYC
As part of its NYC opening festivities, a press release stated that it “will bring its signature grand opening event to New York City” by giving 100 adults the chance to win free Chick-fil-A meals for a year.
“In other words, this one-year free food pass is worth something more valuable than money – it’s worth your dignity”, Jezebel’s Joanna Rothkopf writes, in a post detailing the inanity of the contest’s hidden catch. In 2013, Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy tweeted, and quickly deleted, a message that criticized a Supreme Court ruling that found same-sex couples were entitled to federal benefits.
On Monday, Chick-fil-A was represented at the Advertising Week New York kick-off with the Nasdaq closing bell celebration for the newest inductees for the Madison Avenue Advertising Walk of Fame, because tbrand’s Eat Mor Chikin Cowz were inducted in 2007.
“Aren’t they supposed to be Christians?” To win suspicious New Yorkers over, the massive outpost will rely on the chain’s tried-and-true method of rewarding the first 100 people in line with free food for a year.
“Is it just me, or is this a bit insensitive?”
When it comes to free food, a few dedicated Americans will camp outside for hours. Diners will order on a “flexible queue”, placing “upstream orders” with tablet-bearing employees and picking them up nearly instantly at the counter-much like a drive-thru, as a Chick-fil-A spokesperson noted today.
On Saturday, Chick-fil-A will finally open its giant Herald Square location, the largest damn Chick-fil-A in the whole gosh-darn country.
“The values thing actually helps them”, Victor Fernandez, executive director for insights at TDn2K’s Black Box Intelligence, said to the Times.
Chick-fil-A has been fighting to fix its image.
