Windows 10’s Cortana taps into LinkedIn to cure your meeting anxiety
It will be interesting to see how Windows 10 will do this holiday season considering that the usage share boosts it got early on is likely to die off even more in coming months.
Microsoft is starting to introduce external third-party services to Cortana’s functionality.
Net Applications’ Windows 10 user share portrait backed up the findings of another analytics developer, Ireland’s StatCounter, which has also portrayed the OS’s growth as slowing after its first month of availability. Despite its climb, Windows 10 is still only the fourth largest desktop operating system, trailing older Windows versions.
The data from NetMarketShare for August appeared to show that people were taking advantage of the free upgrade offer in droves. It’s hard to say if the small gain is the start of a trend following a quick start out of the gate or simply a blip for the month of September.
Windows 7 is still in first place with 56.53% of the market, a slight decrease from the 57.67% it held in August.
Specifically, Windows 10 added another 1.42 percentage points in September to claim a 6.63 percent share of the desktop market. First introduced in Windows 8, the feature enables users to boot into a secure workspace located entirely…
When getting together for a meeting with new people, it can be nice to know their background and what they do. Adoption of the new OS is already far outshining that of Windows 8 over a similar time frame. Microsoft wants to bring Windows 10 on 1 billion devices by 2017 and this slow growth might not be the best news for the company. It didn’t surpass 6 percent until the following August when it scored a 7.4 percent share.
