VWSA probes impact of recall scandal

Immediately after the company admitted that it has installed software created to cheat emission tests in a number of its diesel vehicles, it’s stock prices plummeted, losing a third of its value in an extremely short time.

Around 508,276 Volkswagen cars are affected with 393,450 Audis, 76,773 Seat vehicles and 131,569 Skodas as well as 79,838 Volkswagen commercial vehicles.

The decision was taken to enable the firm to “resolve the current issue with the vehicles”, the spokesman said.

On Monday, Audi said 2.1m of its cars were fitted with the same emission cheating software. Around 11m diesel engine cars globally are fitted with the software, which reduces carbon emissions from the vehicles when under test conditions to within standards.

But VW has confirmed that 11 million of its vehicles have Euro 5 engines with the so-called “defeat device“.

Audi’s orator said the difficulties of a given world’s nationally recognized homologation necessities managed to get it more hard to come across all along the suffering motor vehicles as quickly as these targeted. It added that it was “committed to supporting its customers and its retailers through the coming weeks”.

Nearly half of all Audi diesels on United Kingdom roads are affected by the emissions scandal and will be recalled for modification.

“We are very sorry for the situation that has arisen and will do everything in our power to implement necessary upgrades as efficiently as possible”, Terje Male, managing director of Harald A. Moller AS, was quoted as saying.

Prosecutors in Germany announced that their investigation of the scandal has not yet uncovered any evidence against former VW chief executive Martin Winterkorn.
