Final Fantasy 15: Episode Duscae’s auto-switch weapon system has been axed
Considering that Square Enix has kept mum about the release date of the game, for a very long time fans of Final Fantasy are happy with the announcement, albeit it still being vague, and are willing to wait a little longer for it to be released.
This change mostly comes from the concern that users will unintentionally switch weapons during normal, consecutive attacks, like in the “Break – Rush – Slash” system that was seen in the Episode Duscae demo. They’ve already made a bunch of changes based on feedback for the Episode Duscae demo, and now they’re making another big change as of this week. There will be an option to set different weapons for Counters and Raids but you can also leave those to rely on the weapon you have now equipped.
To put it simply, the new change makes it so that you can switch through your weapons while attacking, rather than having preset weapons for the attacks.
Now, you don’t get weapons attached to the aforementioned settings but instead they will be at your command. As they chained these attacks together, their character would automatically switch between weapons.
I have to admit this change sounds like a good thing. Director Hajime Tabata has just announced plans to improve the weapon select system in battle, tackling one of the most cententious issues fans have with the combat. It appears that Tabata is fully aware that Square Enix needs to bring their classic J-RPG series into the future, and Final Fantasy 15’s latest changes are a concession to that pressing urgency.
Final Fantasy XV is expected to release in 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
