United Kingdom poster released for Marvel’s Fantastic Four
He’s right. There are plenty of examples in which comic book movies veered away from the source material and fans didn’t raise much of a stink because the finished product was surprisingly good.
Fantastic Four will reimagine the comic book classic story with a team of scientists as they attempt to journey to an alternate universe and find themselves changed forever.
Fantastic Four sees Jordan reunite with director Trank – the rest are working with him for the first time – as they teamed up for Chronicle back in 2012.
Even with all the bad hype surrounding Fantastic Four (including him “quitting” the gig of a lifetime: directing a spinoff Star Wars movie), Trank claims that he wouldn’t have done anything differently.
“I made every single choice knowing that people would question it”, he said.
In a new interview with the L.A. Times, Trank tried to alleviate people’s fears – as well as respond to the haters – of 20th Century Fox’s upcoming superhero movie starring Kate Mara, Miles Teller, Michael B.
“People are religious about comics the way people are religious about the Bible”, he explains. The film is scheduled for release on August 7, 2015.
Fox’s “contemporary re-imagining” of Fantastic Four has a new launch poster. Jordan (Fruitvale Station) as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, Jamie Bell (Nymphomaniac) as Ben Grimm/The Thing, Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as Doctor Doom, Reg E. Cathey (House of Cards) as Dr. Storm, and Tim Blake Nelson (The Incredible Hulk) as Harvey Elder/Mole Man. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their new abilities and work together to save Earth from a ex- friend turned enemy.
