Burmese python found hidden in clothes at Homestead flea market
A Burmese python measuring eight feet long and weighing 40 pounds has been found at a flea market.
A customer got a shock when a snake slithered out as she was browsing a stall at a flea market.
The snake was reportedly found by a woman who was searching through the 272 Krome Ave. open-air flea market booth looking for clothes.
What do you think you would have done if you found a 7-foot-long python in between a stack of clothing?
“A snake this size could easily eat a cat or small dog”, said Lieutenant Scott Mullin, a venom response officer with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. Burmese pythons aren’t venomous, but they boast more than 100 sharp teeth.
“They are nocturnal creatures and come out at night looking for food and then look for a place to rest during the day”, Mullen said.
Burmese pythons are not native to Florida, which means the snake now likely faces euthanasia.
