Matt Damon Chats About Upcoming Movie ‘The Martian’
Matt Damon nailed his hard monologues in The Martian because he had dialogue etched in memory from having read the script “hundreds of times”.
Oscar nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor also greeted the crowds and revealed he would have taken a different career path if he’d seen the sci-fi film, directed by Ridley Scott, as a child.
The Martian, starring Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain, is set to land in cinemas on the 30th of September and we’ve got goodies to celebrate.
“Chris Pratt got to keep the motorcycle?”
“Then around the time Interstellar came out, Ridley Scott had this film and the character was an astronaut, so I knew it would be the ideal project where I could learn as much as I wanted to”. Michael Barratt, an astronaut from NASA, a flight surgeon and two-time space-flier noted there are certain things in “The Martian” that aren’t right but they are negligible when compared to a lot that the filmmakers excelled with, reported GeekWire.
Finally. a live link with the global space station, where the actors had a conversation with two Americans in space, Scott Kelly and Kjell Lindgren, occurred at Mission Control.
“I wish I’d seen this film when I was 13, I’d have been obsessed with it. I’d have set up a hub in my bedroom and driven everyone insane”, he said.
The stars were out in full force for the European premiere of The Martian.
Many also noted that it was a return to form for director Scott, who had made a number of films that received mixed reviews over the past few years.
Matt Damon plays Mark Watney, a botanist marooned on Mars.
Where “Castaway” had its Wilson volleyball as an outlet for its hero to share his inner thoughts and feelings, “The Martian” has a system of video journals through which Watney shares his frustrations, failings and victories.
In short: When astronauts on Mars have to make an emergency escape from the planet, Mark Watney (Matt Damon) falls behind during the escape and he is presumed dead. The panel discussion, titled “Journey to Mars: Fact or Fiction”, featured NASA program managers who are working on technologies aimed at sending astronauts to Mars and its moons in the 2030s.
No, I’d never met him, which was odd because we’ve both been kicking around here for a while.
He told Newsbeat: “When I saw the clip, I understood it because it was not in context”.
“Ben and I had an idea that we would do it more like “Unforgiven” – which was the anti-western”. About the only truly outlandish detail comes late in the film, when it’s assumed we’ll all accept with a straight face that CNN is still the loftiest figurehead in broadcast journalism.
When do you think we’ll send a person to Mars?
The series, co-produced by Damon and his longtime friend Ben Affleck, focuses on giving up-and-coming directors the chance to make a feature film. I’ll remind you next week again, but mark this one on your calendar…
After The Martian, it was Chastain’s turn to be stranded alone, in a sense, in Guillermo Del Toro’s gothic romance/horror Crimson Peak, which opens October 15. “That was kinda what drew me to it”. Wiig let her fun and flirty frock do all the talking with an updo and a more subtle makeup look. Now I gotta split my money with the exhibitor, so do I think this movie about this relationship kind of falling apart is going to make $100 million so that I can break even?
