Tom Daley posts picture of his engagement rings on Instagram
Diver Tom formally announced he was tying the knot with his fiancé Dustin Lance Black yesterday.
The Olympic diver announced his engagement to his Oscar-winning screenwriter partner yesterday in a traditional low-key way.
Mum Debbie Daley told the Western Morning News they will not set a date until after Rio: “At the moment he is training in Stratford and focusing on competitions to prepare for Rio at the start of August”. “I’ll be looking at dresses and hats!”
In an interview with The Telegraph, Debbie said: “There is an age gap, 20 years, but then again age is but a number“.
Daley told newsbeat when he was asked if his sexuality has a role to play in sports that “I don’t think there should be any reason for there to be any discrimination or homophobia or anything like that in sport because sport is the one place where you’re judged on performance and nothing else”. Just hearing him feel that excitement made me feel excited.
“It was a really nice emotion. We are all looking forward to it. The rest of the family really like Lance”.
Debbie also said that the family has taken a shine to Dustin, 41, who she refers to as “Lance”, and described him as a “very likeable person that gets along with everybody”.
Tom and Lance are believed to have been introduced by mutual friends at the Soho Hotel in London in 2013.
The 41-year-old Black is a writer and producer who won an Academy Award for his screenplay for the 2008 movie “Milk” about gay activist and politician Harvey Milk. It gave me the hope to live my life.
