Ford Recalls 37000 F-150s for Faulty Cruise Control
Ford Motors, the U.S automaker, will be recalling 37,000 new F -150s vehicles for brake issues when running on cruise control. The recall is one of six announced on Wednesday, September 30, 2015.
The adaptive cruise control is set up to help protect Ford drivers from hazards but yet with absolute nothing in front of the auto, the vehicle has known to slow down by itself and at times turn on the warning for a flash collision.
The Windstar mini-van recalls from model years 1998 to 2003 relates to an earlier recall for cracking of the rear axle from 2010. According to Ford (NYSE:F) the problem will occur if F-150 is crossing a large reflective truck, the radar might think that the truck is in the same lane as the F-150 and automatically apply the brakes which can cause an accident. The problem can occur even if the pickup truck passes by a big truck. The problem can be addressed with a software update. In June the National Transportation Safety Board recommended that safety regulators require automatic braking systems to become a standard feature on all new cars.
Automatic brakes are fast becoming the norm in automobiles and buyers prefer cars that have the automatic brakes system in them as it is considered to be safer. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is also investigating complaints about the automatic braking system in the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The second-largest U.S. automaker recalled almost 37,000 F-150s, model year 2015, that might be affected in North America, a lot of them in the United States.
The Ford dealers are advised to inspect the vehicles and carry out rear axle replacement for free, if the bracket was installed wrongly. It’s aware of a small number of accidents caused by the problem, but no injuries.
