Keira Knightley’s debut Broadway performance nearly RUINED by disruptive
Everything was going as planned last night, as actress Keira Knightley and fellow actors took the stage in the first preview of “Thérèse Raquin” at the Roundabout Theatre Company debuted in New York City.
However, approximately five minutes into the performance, a member of the audience allegedly stood up and made his way to the stage, shouting in Keira’s direction.
When Knightley didn’t respond, the man reportedly began yelling angrily until security guards were sent to escort him out of the theatre.
Audience members Whitney McIntosh and Kacey Bange shared their first-hand accounts with E! Then, I believe he was still talking loudly.
‘Two security people went over to him to physically remove him.
The unidentified man then launched a bouquet at the stage before he was thrown out of the venue, and the production was paused briefly while the cast composed themselves.
Another theatre-goer wrote on Twitter: “After a very awkward silence Gabriel Ebert motioned to Knightley, they walked over to the bouquet and kicked it into the wings (which got applause)”.
According to eyewitness accounts, Knightley continued to perform a few more lines until the show was shut down with a short intermission. “Never a boring moment on 54th Street!”
Knightley plays the title character in the show, which was originally written by Emile Zola and adapted by British playwright Helen Edmundson.
