Ring bearer and flower girl marry 17-years later
He was the ring bearer, and she the flower girl, in a family friend’s wedding.
According to the bride’s Facebook page, the North Carolina couple was married at the South Gastonia Church of God and celebrated their honeymoon on a cruise.
“I had a crush on him from the start”, Brooke tells the town’s local affiliate ABC11 of Adrian, who she met when both were five. “He said ‘I got on his nerves.’ I’d tried to play with him at school and at church and he just didn’t want much to do with me at all”. He wrote the message with his finger on her back.
“I was always trying to get away from her and run from her and hide from her”, Adrian said. When he proposed, he had friends ride by in a boat with a sign reading, “Will you marry me Brooke”, and he provided the question mark.
Eventually, the two went through elementary school, then middle school, and finally, clicked in high school.
He handed Brooke the punctuation symbol when he got down on one knee.
On September 19, the pair married in the very church where they first walked down as flower girl and ring bearer. “So when it happened they all came out screaming”.
Now 21 and 22 years old, the couple says they’ve been told they’re too young.
When family told Adrian Franklin he’d have to be in a wedding, he says he was devastated.
So the next time your child is invited to serve as a member of the wedding party, take a good look at his or her partner, as the tiny attendant may just turn out to be an in-law someday!
