West Coast’s dark drug-culture revealed

He revealed that he and former teammates Kerr and Cousins took large amounts of asthma drug prednisone, with experts describing their pattern of use as “bizarre and inappropriate”.
Kerr has denied Chick’s claims he and Ben Cousins abused the asthma drug prednisone during their 2006 premiership season – which is banned under anti-doping rules – and says he doesn’t know why Chick believes they did.
“At least walk down the main street in Melbourne and I’ll walk down the main street here and give the other fans a chance to heckle”, he said.
Chick said he started taking the 20mgs and 5mgs tablets on game day which quickly increased to 40 and 50mg doses.
“You feel bulletproof basically… It’s not a coincidence the three of us have had issues with substance abuse”.
Brereton said Chick felt he was encouraged to play through damaging bouts of asthma, a disease which killed Chick’s brother.
He also revealed that a former Eagles figure handed out sedatives to players and that a staffer hid players from drug testers and covered for a player who was found with Valium in his possession.
“And in terms of timing, I think that club’s worked so hard to improve the culture and they’ve done a great job”.
As Priddis was walking towards the boarding gate about 30 minutes later, an elderly woman holding a West Coast flag went up to him for a big hug.
