Wyoming Middle School named a National Blue Ribbon School
The schools then participated in a rigorous application process with the U.S. Department of Education.
“It is heartening to see Minnesota schools receive recognition on a national stage”, said Minnesota Department of Education Commissioner Brenda Cassellius in a statement.
The designation awards the Memphis school for having a high level of achievement and having students who succeed regardless of background.
“Your journey has taught you collaboration, intentional instruction, and strong relations in school, and with your community”.
“In 2009, Columbiana High School was honored as a Blue Ribbon School, so we are very excited to have our Middle School also be recognized as a Blue Ribbon School”, commented Donald Mook, Columbiana Exempted Village School District Superintendent.
“Everyone worked together to help every student achieve success”, she said.
Illinois has 16 private and public schools honored as 2015 Blue Ribbon Schools.
“They noticed a closing in achievement gaps and high test scores and because of that they nominated us as a Blue Ribbon School from Ohio”. FGES was previously named a Maryland Character Education School of the Year.
“Coming from predominantly low-income homes, students in first, second and third grades at Martin Petitjean Elementary School are empowered through the Leader in Me program, and as a result, excel”, federal and state officials said in a news release. “The students, teachers, administrators and parents in these communities have made thoughtful and innovative decisions to promote student learning and deserve to be recognized for this outstanding achievement”.
Chocowinity Primary School received the award along with 285 public and 50 private schools.
In order to qualify to be named a Blue Ribbon School, a school must be ranked within the top 15 percent of schools in the state according to state assessments and have at least 100 students enrolled.
