‘Blade 4’ plans are up in the air: Wesley Snipes
“Marvel and I have chose to have further conversations…” It’s inescapable. They have their agenda, we have ours, and we’re both moving at an accelerated pace to create magic.
Actor Wesley Snipes confirmed that he has talked with Marvel about a potential Blade return.
Snipes added that he would be happy to join the MCU as Blade or another character, but that he wouldn’t be waiting by the phone for a call from Marvel.
The actor hit San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday to promote his upcoming Las Vegas-set drama “The Player“, and also discussed the odds of returning to his vampire-hunting past. The film series starred Wesley Snipes as Blade, a person whose mother was bitten by a vampire while he was still in her womb.
The three films grossed $415 million in total, but the franchise lost steam after a poor critical response to 2004’s Blade: Trinity.
“So Punisher, Ghost Rider, Blade, all those characters are back”, Marvel boss Kevin Feige shared with Entertainment Weekly. “But if we don’t to a Blade 4 or something else with Marvel, we’ll do something else”, he told Deadline. I’m thinking Snipes may work alongside Benedict Cumberbatch as Brother Voodoo in the Doctor odd movie.
We haven’t even seen Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor unusual, and we already know we’d LOVE to see them buddy up in a film! Not everybody can do the comic book adaptation thing and make it believable. He had been open to other concepts that are equally exciting and hopefully successful as the 1998 film. On the other hand, maybe the studio are keen to get the original face of the character back.
Snipes has previously mentioned that he’d be up for another “Blade” installment as long as the script was right.
