Clinton pledges to fight NRA on gun rights after shooting
Clinton commented on the shooting following a forum on substance abuse that she attended here as part of her campaign for the Democratic nomination for president.
Republican candidates who spoke out after the shooting offered prayers for the victims and others affected, but they steered clear of addressing gun control, which remains a controversial issue despite many U.S. school shootings each year.
When Wu asked why Clinton thought she could win battles against the NRA, the candidate pointed out that her husband, former President Bill Clinton, signed the federal assault weapons ban in 1994. “We’re going to take (the gun lobby) on”, she said, echoing the remarks she made immediately after the Oregon shooting. Police believe thieves took them.
Clinton unveiled her immigration policy during a May campaign stop in Las Vegas, where she told high school students that any immigration legislation must include a path to “full and equal citizenship”.
Clinton’s pitch, called Latinos for Hillary, will also extend to Hispanic lawmakers and elected officials, and will include an address next week to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s annual meeting in Washington.
In a statement to CNN reporter Dan Merica, Clinton expressed exasperation with the frequency of mass shootings in the U.S. and called for expanded gun laws.
Everitt said Sanders’ position clashes with his image as a progressive populist.
Sanders defended his record on Thursday on MSNBC.
“If I came earlier I would be gone already”, said Skyers. I think that what we need is a national movement.
He and his classmates were also going to work the rally into a paper for a speech class they’re taking.
Everitt was unimpressed. “He has the body language of a man who doesn’t like talking about this”, he said. “I’m sick about it, and I feel an absolute urgency for this country to start being sensible about keeping guns away from people who should not have them”, Clinton said.
Ingoglia wants two of the Democratic Party’s leading Florida candidates to suffer by association since they are supporters of Clinton and polling shows voters have concerns over her email practices and question her trustworthiness.
“I’m thinking about getting ready to leave”, she said 50 minutes after Clinton was supposed to go on. Stand up to these people because a majority of the population and a majority of gun owners agree that there should be universal background checks.
