Cowboys Trail Kansas State 28-20 At Halftime

The Oklahoma State OSU Sooners take on the Kansas State Wildcats today in a game on the college football schedule which sees both teams entering the day undefeated and one of them sporting a national ranking.

Before that, K-State controlled the game, taking a 28-13 lead in the second quarter, despite using Kody Cook, who normally plays receiver, at quarterback.

Cook did a fantastic job, but he also was hurt.

Cook had to replace the starter, Joe Hubener, who was leveled by a hit from OSU’s Tre Flowers during the drive.

With a shot at their fifth win of the season at home Oklahoma State looks to be in a good spot going forward but don’t expect Kansas State to go down easy. The drive was capped by four yard touchdown pass from Cook to junior fullback Glenn Gronkowski, the Wildcats led 14-7.

But the Cowboys (5-0, 2-0 Big 12) marched back down the field, putting Grogan in position to be the hero again after he connected on field goals of 41 and 40 yards in a 30-27 victory over Texas.

With the loss, K-State (3-1, 0-1) suffered its first loss. The sophomore endured his first real dose of adversity last weekend in his seventh career game, tossing two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown, with another pick called back due to a penalty. In receiving, Marcell Ateman had 69 yards in four receptions while Jhajuan Seales added 47 yards in two catches.

The Cowboys opened up the second quarter with a pass from J.W. Walsh to Jalen McClesky. In the first half, he broke through to swat an extra-point attempt after Oklahoma State’s second touchdown and batted down a backward pass by Cowboys QB Mason Rudolph, setting up a fumble recovery that led to a touchdown and a 28-13 lead.

Kody Cook was 9-11 for 127 yards and two touchdowns through the air. In the second half, he batted down a third-down pass in Kansas State territory.
