YouTube Kids Can Now Stream Content To Apple TV And Chromecast

Against the backdrop of the complaints, an updated version of the YouTube Kids app will be released by YouTube in the next few weeks. These issues received enough attention to convince US Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) to send a letter to Google CEO Larry Page inquiring about YouTube Kids.
This February, Google introduced us to YouTube Kids, a special app that’s aimed at letting toddlers watch content made only for them.
According to The Verge, the new update also includes an explainer for parents on how to set up the new controls.

In April, the Center for Digital Democracy and the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood filed a supplement to their complaint against YouTube Kids for mixing ads and content, saying the app is also not the safe place for kids it is advertised to be. However, after being reported by parent and child advocacy groups to FTC for featuring adult content, the YouTube Kids app is now expected to be updated to filter out the content better.
And yes, there are now more shows available on YouTube Kids, including original shows and series.
However, YouTube reminds parents that “no system is ideal”, emphasizing the need for parents to flag videos that they see on the service that would be cause of concern.
New playlists from the likes of National Geographic Kids, Kid President, Geena Davis are already available for streaming, whereas as those from Vsauce and Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls are on their way. The service has been doing well ever since, as the search giant has mentioned that it has been downloaded more than 8 million times.
“We work to make the videos in YouTube Kids as family-friendly as possible and take feedback very seriously”, said a YouTube spokesperson when the supplement was filed.
