Former University of Miami President Donna Shalala Suffers Stroke
Clinton Foundation chief Donna Shalala suffered a stroke Tuesday evening, officials said.
An email from former Bill Clinton was sent out after Shalala was taken to the hospital.
The veteran educator was also chancellor at the University of Wisconsin and president of Hunter College in New York.
In a statement, Clinton and his daughter, Chelsea, said “Initial reports are very encouraging”.
“Fortunately, she was with colleagues at the time and taken to the hospital for treatment”, the statement read.
Ms Shalala served eight years as secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services and is a close friend of the Clinton family.
In a statement released Wednesday, current University of Miami President Julio Frenk said Shalala’s prognosis is “encouraging”.
“On behalf of the entire University of Miami community, I wish to convey our deep concern for former UM President Donna Shalala, who suffered a stroke last night”. They integrated, “We will carry to share their modifications as understood more”.
The foundation has come under renewed scrutiny since former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the wife of Bill Clinton, kicked off her campaign for US president in April.
