Baltimore Ravens deny Steve Smith broke bones in his back
The Baltimore Ravens will be without one of their top playmakers for at least their next game.
The 36-year-old was speared in his lower back by Steelers linebacker Lawrence Timmons late in the third quarter of the Ravens’ 23-20 overtime win in Pittsburgh on Thursday night. Smith and Mitchell got into it early in the game, and Smith accused Mitchell of playing a role in his injury.
“While the Ravens do not give specifics about injuries out of respect to the men on our team and HIPAA laws, we want to dispel rumors and stories now being reported about Steve Smith Sr’s injury”.
On Saturday, the Ravens released a statement on Smith, saying his injury is “not a surgical issue”. Through the first three weeks of the season, when Smith played the entire games, only five teams ran the ball fewer than Baltimore.
The Baltimore Ravens are already without a litany of stars, and now they can add wide receiver Steve Smith to the list.
Smith then stood up before going back to the turf before medical personnel came out onto the field. “I’m trying to make it to the airplane”.
No other Ravens receiver even has half that production. Smith went for more than 1,000 yards a year ago and played well in the playoffs, scoring two touchdowns against Darrelle Revis and the New England Patriots in the AFC Divisonal game.
