Verizon launches its Go90 mobile video app and sharing service
Verizon’s goal with the go90 service is to cater to young adults and teens who increasingly devour video on smartphones and tablets. The Go90 app is available for Apple devices and for Android devices, a great bet on a Bendgate-free iPhone 6s Plus or a new Google Nexus 5X or Nexus 6P. So, users of both Android and iPhones will be able to download the Go90 video app on their phone and watch videos on their phones horizontally. It will also include online web shows from the likes of Nerdist, Machinima, Vice and Elite Daily.
As for what content you should expect to see, Verizon just signed a partnership with Univision bringing a bit of its content to the service, as well as MTV, Comedy Central, AOL, HuffPost Live, and much more.
The Go90 app is free and hence will be ad-supported. If you do happen to be a Verizon customer, though, you can get exclusive content on go90 as well as 2GB of extra data for three months if you’re on a More Everything plan or Verizon Plan.
During CTIA Super Mobility Week in September, Verizon said it had purposefully left the Verizon name out of the branding for Go90 and focused on created a community experience by building the service out of short clips which can easily be customized and shared across major social media platforms. All in all Go90 can be a very good alternative to TV cable, offering more features and being intended for mobile devices turns your smartphone into a complete entertainment source.
Follow your favorite shows and celebrity profiles, for more time watching and less time deciding what to watch.
The app itself isn’t only for watching video content as it also includes a group chat function which is a way to encourage people to watch and share content with one another.
Samsung is killing off its Milk Video streaming service in November, but now a new video streaming option has surfaced to replace it.
