Dad hacks Ikea furniture to make ‘coolest bed ever’ for son
Others hve built their very own “Ikea hacks” and fed photograph and directions to the Ikea Hackers internet website.
And to be safe, dad says an adult can disassemble the bed within seconds if his son is stuck inside.
Strong spent the past few months trying to convince his son that he should trade in his convertible toddler bed for big kid bed, but his son was hesitant – until he agreed on an exchange for “the most awesome bed ever”.
One dad just completed the ultimate IKEA hack.
The attention is well-deserved as he repurposed four pieces of furniture (two Kura beds and Besta and Trofast storage units) to create a brilliant design that includes a bed, slide and secret room hidden by a book shelf.
The bed is also fitted with a slide, pulley, crane and ball run.
Strong, being the ultimate IKEA hack Dad and all, is pretty fond of the Swedish furniture manufacturer.
“I think most people would feel guilty, or at least apprehensive, about hacking apart a $500 top-quality bookcase, but a $30 one from IKEA?”
Strong tells Inverse in an email that he’s got a few other plans when it comes to building more labyrinth-like contraptions for his two kids.
“I’ve seen my son and his friends play on this for a year”.
