Indrani Mukherjea’s condition serious after consuming pills, say doctors at
Former media magnate Indrani Mukerjea, accused of killing her daughter Sheena Bora, was on Friday hospitalised after drug overdose with doctors describing her condition as “serious”, leading to speculation that she might have attempted suicide. “She is unconscious since then”, Dr T P Lahane, Dean of government-run J J Hospital in south Mumbai, told reporters. We think that she has consumed a few tablets, we are treating her on that basis. “It will be take at least 24 hours”, he added. During Indrani’s interrogation, the police reportedly referred to her as a “tough to crack”.
According to TP Lahane, dean, JJ Hospital, Indrani was brought to the hospital at around 2 pm on Friday afternoon.
Mikhail Bora, Indrani’s son and brother of Sheena Bora whom she is accused of murdering, said Durga’s last rites were performed tonight.
Earlier this week, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered an FIR in the sensational murder case naming Indrani Mukerjea, the victim’s mother, Mukerjea’s ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and her former driver Shyamvar Rai. The CBI has taken over the case, and a team of the agency is in Mumbai to reassess the evidence gathered by the Mumbai Police.
25-year-old Sheena was allegedly murdered on 24 April, 2012, and her body was burnt and disposed off in a forest in Raigad district in Maharashtra the next day.
