Princess Leia’s ‘Slave Bikini’ sold for $96000 at auction
Bidding started at $80K and by Friday it ended up fetching $96K.
Profiles in History/REUTERS The Princess Leia slave costume worn by actress Carrie Fisher in “Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi” fetched $96,000 at a Profiles in History auction Thurday.
Despite the high sale, it did not set the record for the auction.
The signature costume, which Princess Leia wore after she was captured by Jabba the Hutt on the desert planet Tatooine, was purchased for almost United States dollars 1,00,000. You may think your collection of memorabilia is great and extensive, but it will never include one of the coolest items in the Star Wars catalog. The flying ship seen in the first film Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope was purchased for Dollars 4,50,000.
Aside from the miniature spacecraft, the winning bidder also brought home a letter of authenticity, as well as a custom display case that illuminates the spacecraft’s engine lights.
Included in the costume is the collar, and several of the links from the chain, which Leia used to strangle the crime lord before freeing herself.
A model of the “Star Wars” blockade runner spaceship has sold for a record $450,000 – almost double estimates – at a Hollywood memorabilia auction.
Fisher will be back as Leia in the seventh installment of the series, “The Force Awakens”, in theaters this December.
