OPPOSING VIEW: Lynch likely a game-time decision
Carroll said a decision on whether “Beast Mode” will play in Seattle’s Monday night game against the Detroit Lions at CenturyLink Field will be a game-time decision. Rawls replaced Lynch in Week 3’s 26-0 win against the Chicago Bears, gaining 104 yards on just 16 carries.
Seattle coach Pete Carroll said Lynch had an MRI on the injury earlier this week and the scan showed a few “findings” but did not elaborate.
“We would go with him if he could make it”, Carroll told reporters. Jackson has five receptions on the year and caught a touchdown pass in Week 2. Lynch, who entered last week’s matchup against the Chicago Bears with lower back tightness, is now battling a hamstring injury that apparently grew more severe as the week progressed. Thomas Rawls will receive an opportunity to build on the 104-yard rushing performance he produced in his first career start. “If he can pop out of it, then we would go with it. He’s had other weeks when he wasn’t able to practice and played very well, but we’ll have to wait and see”.
“So he’s been working hard at trying to get back”, Carroll said. Carroll said defensive lineman Demarcus Dobbs won’t play because of his injured shoulder.
Given Detroit’s propensity for throwing the ball, Seattle could end up in its nickel defense quite a bit, which would mean a bigger role for Hill, and he is also the backup to Brandon Mebane in the base defense, and Mebane’s status is in question after sustaining a groin injury last weekend.
That’s something the Seahawks might have to do Monday night without Lynch.
Seattle cornerback Tharold Simon (toe) and safety Steven Terrell (hip) were both ruled out following practice on Saturday. “He’s done a really diligent job of rehabbing so we’ll see what happens”.
