Lalu targets on BJP for not declaring its Chief Ministerial candidate
The BJP on Thursday promised to distribute free laptops to students, two-wheelers to girls and colour TVs to Dalits and Mahadalits in its poll manifesto which it said will eliminate Bihar’s backwardness.
The repercussions of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s interview to Organiser, in which he called for a review of reservation, are still unfolding in Bihar, with the BJP vowing to make a backward class leader the Chief Minister if the NDA wins the Assembly polls. The BJP’s ability to cater to younger voters through its messaging, social media, and projection of Modi as a leader in touch with India’s youth was instrumental in establishing the party’s dominance in 2014. “People have to defeat BJP in Bihar to teach a hard lesson not to touch land acquisition bill and reservation policy“. He has been attacking the alliance, and more specifically Nitish Kumar in his speeches in the Seemanchal region which he is concentrating on.
“Rahul Baba – no now dares to slaughter our soldiers”. Actually, they are the driving force.
“You wouldn’t know understand this because you have got your perspective from your mother’s side of the family”, he said, apparently referring to the army’s counteroffensive against insurgents along the Myanmar border in June following the killing of 18 soldiers in an ambush in Manipur. Patel will use the forthcoming elections in the state to address the Kurmi community but will not be contesting seats.
Prasad also mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his 56-inch chest comment, asking “What has happened his 56-inch chest when Pakistan is regularly shelling Indian borders?” The Paswans are engaged in their own battle with another NDA partner, Jitan Ram Manjhi, over the mantle of the biggest Dalit leader in Bihar. “It is true that Pakistan is still indulging in firing at borders”. It says that in 2013-14, the state gross domestic product grew at 8.8 per cent, whereas in the preceding year, under the alliance government, Bihar grew 15 per cent. In 2010-11 and 2011-12, Bihar, under the JD (U)-BJP government, was the fastest growing state in the country.
BJP leaders said the party has made an elaborate plan which will also see a host of Union ministers criss-cross the state every day in the run-up to polls.
